I love building Websites

How I Do Business

Quick Turnaround Times

Many clients come to me under severe time constraints. If you need your website delivered quickly and effeciently, I can help you. I've launched sites in as little as 4 days from the initial contact.

Fair Prices

You can count on me to deliver fair pricing for your website. If you have a set budget for your project, i'll work with you to get the most for your money. Or I'll quote you a range of options and you can choose the best fit for you.

Creativity

Creativity and good design on the web mean more than just making things look nice (although that's important!). It’s also about creating an emotional reaction in your users that makes them want to take action.

Attention To Detail

Who cares if that image is misaligned 1 pixel to the left? I do! When I create a website, I pay relentless attention to detail so that everything lines up and looks great across all devices. I only build things that I'm proud to show others.

Listening

I've learned when I listen first, and speak second, things go so much smoother. Throughout your project, from the planning stages to the launch, I listen to your vision and your feedback. I am only happy when I know you're happy.

Solid Communication

Good communication is essential for any project, and my style is both responsive and straightforward. One of my specialties is taking complicated topics and breaking them down in a way that is easy for my clients to understand.

My Design Philosophy

Some of the major ideas and design principles I incorporate into my website designs:

  • Simplicity – Simple is almost always better than complex. Make things as simple as they can be, but no simpler.
  • Form and Function – Good design is more than how something looks – it’s also how it functions in the real world.
  • Design for people – Users are everything. Create websites that are a delight for people to be on.
  • Systems thinking Use the tools and techniques of systems thinking to understand how each component of a website contributes to the goals and vision of the business behind it.

My Process

  • Freelance Website Design - Research

    Research

Before the first pixel is created I do extensive research on your business, your industry, and your competition. I look for new opportunities for growth and creative ways to set yourself apart online.

  • Freelance Website Design - Planning

    Plan

What I learned in the research phase is put into a plan of action. It is here where we establish what exactly we are trying to accomplish with the website, and how we are going to get there.

  • Freelance Website Design - Design

    Design

The design phase focuses on putting your plan into action by creating visual designs and interesting copy that conveys your message and differentiates you from your competition.

  • Freelance Website Design Process - Build

    Build

Everything from the previous three phases comes together and I build your site. You provide feedback throughout this process and we make sure everything is just right.

  • Freelance Website Design - Launch

    Launch

Once we are sure everything is working properly and you're happy with your new website, we launch it to the public through a combination of email and social media marketing.

  • Freelance Website Design - Maintain

    Maintain

I keep your website up to date, give you data about your visitors and their behavior, assist with your online marketing strategy, and provide regular backups of your site.

A Little Bit About Me

I work with small and medium sized businesses of all kinds to develop websites that set them apart from their competition. My sites tend to focus on simplicity and utilize generous whitespace, creative typography, and beautiful imagery. You can find some examples of the work I’ve done on my portfolio page.

A little bit about my upbringing: My parents were small business owners, and I learned a lot about how business works from them. I learned how to think about business. This intellectual foundation is invaluable. It gives me the tools to understand the businesses behind the websites I build, and helps me see opportunities in places that others might not see.

I haven’t always built websites. Before settling into web design my life was a bit of an adventure. I taught ESL in South Korea for over 3 years, picked apples in New Zealand, traded stocks and currencies, oversaw development of a new product, and took a few around the world trips. I constantly draw on these experiences in my work and in my life.

Things I’m Good At:

  • Completing projects fast and on time
  • Building memorable digital experiences
  • Late nights
  • Coffee

Things I’m Not Good At:

  • Driving faster than the speed limit
  • Weather below 40°
  • Dribbling a basketball
  • Flat tires
